Laura Recommends: Andy Brown - Country Sessions (Vol. 1)

Published on

Ever since Andy Brown launched his solo career with the brilliant 'Landslide' featuring The Shires' Crissie Rhodes last year, I have been totally obsessed with his gorgeous voice and his latest single 'Talk Of The Town' is constantly on repeat.

I cannot wait for the release of his debut solo album 'Cedarmont' which will be dropping on June 8th as I know it will be a real highlight of the 2018 releases. There's no denying that Andy Brown is a true talent and a fantastic addition to the growing UK Country Music scene.

And he has now released his first ever covers EP titled 'Country Sessions (Vol. 1)' featuring his take on four massive Country songs from Cam, Lady Antebellum, Maren Morris and Little Big Town. It's a real eclectic mix of totally stripped back country-pop tracks which he manages to make totally his own.

The songs he has covered are Cam's 'Burning House', Maren Morris' 'I Could Use A Love Song', Little Big Town's 'Better Man', and my personal favourite Lady Antebellum's 'You Look Good'.

For his take on Lady A's huge 2017 comeback hit, Andy has stripped the jazz infused toe-tapping hit by using intimate guitar riffs, but he brings the song to life by keeping the infectious horn section.

I just love when artists release their cover EPs as it showcases their huge range of talent and It's fantastic to hear their take on some great songs. I loved when Ward Thomas released their covers EP 'A Shorter Story' last year, and I am totally in love with Andy's 'Country Sessions' record.

It's a great way to introduce himself further as a country artist and is a brilliant addition to his growing solo catalogue of beautiful music. His album cannot come soon enough and I definitely recommend you check out this gorgeous EP if you like awesome music.
