Laura Recommends: Sarah Darling - Wasted

Published on

Ever since I saw Sarah Darling supporting Ward Thomas at the Globe in Cardiff back in 2016 I have been totally hooked on her honey-sweet vocals. I just adore everything about her stunning voice and her easy on stage charm.

She really writes from the heart which appeals to me and is the main reason why she is one of my favourite country music acts. I am so excited to see her headlining for the first time later this month in Bristol as she brings her tour to the UK. Tickets for these shows are on sale now.

And today she has dropped 'Wasted' which is my favourite track she has ever released. It's a song that deals with the subject of addiction and the lyrics explore what it's like to be the one watching someone with an addiction. It has a real personal meaning to me and I resonate with the subject matter and the poignant lyrics in the song.

I have talked to Sarah about my relationship with the song and she was really sweet about my personal story. 'Wasted' is a track for everyone and anyone who may be struggling with an addiction or is watching someone they love who is.

Lyrically it's such an emotive song and the production is so stripped back that it allows Darling's vocal talents to really shine. This has become one of her biggest hits when performed live and I see the trend continuing via the charts.

'Wasted' is not only a sublime Sarah Darling song but also a fantastic track all round. It embodies everything great about the country music genre and if you are looking for some wonderful new music to listen to this week then look no further than this beautiful song.
