Laura Recommends: Selena Gomez - Back To You

Selena Gomez is one of my all time favourite artists and her sound has evolved over the years from straight up pop to synth based pop that relies on heavy bass-lines and melancholy beats.  

I know that her new direction on hits such as 'Bad Liar' was not to everyone's taste and I'm not gonna lie it took me a while to get on board as well but after several listens I was hooked on her new style.  

And now Selena is back with her brilliant new single 'Back To You' which is lifted off the Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why Season 2. It's another change in musical output but it has a more mainstream sound compared to the likes of 'Bad Liar' which was the Marmite track of 2017.   

With 'Back To You' Gomez croons about a love that she knows she'll always go back to regardless of how many times she has her heart broken or the fact that she knows this relationship will never work; She'll always go "back to you".   

It's a wonderful release and a new mature sound from the former Disney starlet. Selena is without doubt one of our best female pop stars on the planet and with this latest release she brings home that fact.  

Her vocals mixed with the emotive lyrical content and the brilliant chorus combine to make a sure-fire worldwide chart hit.
