Laura Recommends: The Shires - Guilty

Published on

Up until last year I wasn't really that into The Shires. I'd heard them a couple of times on the radio but couldn't really get into their music but that all changed after I saw them live at the RiverTown Festival in Bristol last July. I attended the gig because Ward Thomas were on the bill.

The concert was brilliant and I totally fell in love with The Shires after witnessing them live. They just put on a brilliant show and entertained throughout. Afterwards I also met Ben and Crissie and they were so lovely that I knew I had to check out their music properly, so a few days later I popped into HMV and purchased their first two albums 'Brave' and 'My Universe' and I was blown away by their vocal prowess.

After listening to the records I was hooked on their music and went to see them live again a few months later in August at the Burning Lantern Fayre, once again they put on an excellent show.

Now, I am a huge fan of The Shires and I will be seeing them live once again this May when they head to Cardiff for their new tour. And I cannot wait for the release of their new album 'Accidentally On Purpose' which is dropping on April 20th. I just know it is going to be a fantastic record.

And today they released their brilliant new single 'Guilty' which is a slice of pure country-pop heaven. It has a massive sing-a-long chorus that will be so much fun during the live shows, combined with lyrical hooks that set up the whole song with a brilliant play on words. It's a stunning record and it embodies everything I love about The Shires and country-pop in general. It's such a feel-good song that gets stuck in your head after just one listen. I just know it is going to be on repeat until their new LP drops next month.

So if you're looking for great new music to listen to this week look no further than The Shires' new single 'Guilty.
