Laura Recommends: Shawn Mendes FT Khalid - Youth

Shawn Mendes is without doubt one of the most talented all round musicians of our generation. Not only does he have a killer vocal range he can also play a variety of instruments to a level way beyond his 19 years. 

So when I heard he was teaming up with Khalid who is another insanely talented musician of our time although I am not really into his music, I just knew the results would be out of this world and I was not disappointed. 

Their collaboration for 'Youth' which is lifted off Mendes' upcoming self-titled album which will be released on May 25th, is an awe inspiring track that deals with the feelings of hopelessness that our generation feels when we see all the hate in the world. 

The poignant lyrics were inspired by the atrocious attack at the Ariana Grande concert on May 22nd, but rather than focusing on the devastating loss of 22 innocent lives, Shawn turns his attention to hope with message that we will not let hate and fear win over love. 

In the poignant chorus, Khalid and Shawn come together to create a stunning harmony as they sing; 

You can't take my youth away
This soul of mine will never break
As long as I wake up today
You can't take my youth away 

'Youth' is a sensational release and will no doubt become an anthem for Millenials all across the globe in a show of solidarity in the face of fear as we show that love conquers all.
